Current view of the Service
Date of Assessment: 16 April – 9 May 2025. The service is a residential care home which provides personal care to adults, some of whom were living with dementia or physical disabilities. At the time of our inspection 41 people lived at the service. The provider was previously in breach of legal regulations in relation to safe care and treatment and good governance. Improvements were found at this inspection and the provider was no longer in breach of these regulations. We assessed and inspected the service due to the length of time since the last assessment. We carried out a comprehensive assessment and inspection of the service covering all 5 key questions and all quality statements.People were supported by staff who knew them well, who were kind, caring and treated them with dignity. The service accurately recorded and reported incidents and processes were in place to learn from these. Staff at the service felt well supported by the management team on site and there was an open culture where staff felt able to offer feedback regarding service improvement. People, their relatives and staff had opportunities to offer their feedback, and the service took steps to make improvements based on this. Some improvements were required to the administration of medicines. Professionals who visit the service were complimentary of the service’s staff team, approach to care and the sharing of information. The environment was clean and tidy, some areas of the home were in need of maintenance work, for example a lift was out of order. The service had identified this prior to the inspection and plans were in place to address this.
People's experience of the service
Updated 8 January 2025
People living at the service and their relatives we spoke to were mainly positive about the service offered, staff and managers. People told us they liked the food at the service, a person told us, ‘We have a proper meal at dinner, its lovely.’ People told us staff were kind and caring and were responsive to their needs. A person told us ‘The staff are lovely, they will do anything for you.’ Everyone we spoke to knew who the managers of the service were, and who to speak to if there were any issues. A relative told us, ‘They [managers] have been very good at keeping us informed about what’s happening with our relative.’ We observed activities taking place in the home during the day and the home had a daily schedule of events taking place. People’s views on activities available were mixed, some people told us they felt they had enough to do and enjoyed the events which took place within the home. Some people who resided upstairs at the service told us they would like more to do. We observed people at the service being supported to access all areas of the home and people had choice and control over where they spent their time.
