Simple steps to keep you safe during your hospital stay

The NHS England National Patient Safety Team has produced a new video and leaflet for patients, providing tips and advice on simple things to keep safe during a hospital stay.

The video and leaflet objectives are to:

  • Empower patients to be involved in their own safety while in hospital
  • Raise awareness amongst patients of common patient safety risks during a hospital stay
  • Educate patients on how they can keep safe

The video and leaflet cover the following issues:

  • Asking for help if you don’t understand
  • Hospital wristbands
  • Allergies
  • Medicines
  • Blood clots
  • Pressure ulcers
  • Falls
  • Infection control
  • Discharge information

Carers Experience of Discharge From Hospital

Working with NHS England and Improvement on their Commitment to Carers Programme we have interviewed 12 local carers about their experience of discharge from hospital when the person they care for has been admitted to hospital for elective surgery or via emergency admission.
