Current View of Service
The service is a care home which provides personal care to adults, some of whom were living with dementia or physical disabilities. At the time of our inspection 47 people lived at the service. We assessed and inspected the service due to the length of time since the last assessment. We carried out a comprehensive assessment and inspection of the service covering all 5 key questions and all quality statements. The service was registered for use by autistic people or people with a learning disability. At the time of the assessment, the service was not used by anyone with a learning disability or an autistic person. The provider told us that they also do not intend to provide a specialist service to this population group in the future. Therefore we did not assess the care provision under Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture. The service was previously rated good; at this inspection the service was rated outstanding. Staff and leaders had a shared vision and culture and were committed to delivering high quality, dignified and safe care to people. Staff and leaders were highly experienced and compassionate people. Managers at the service worked innovatively to explore services and technology available to them and continually strived to improve the lives of people at the service. Staff embraced change and were flexible in their approach to meet the individual needs of all the people they supported. There was a strong learning culture within the home. Staff were recruited safely. The service worked well with professionals and community groups and ensured that people living at the home had full access to continue hobbies of interest to them or to explore new interests. People’s spiritual and religious needs were understood and respected, people who wished to be, were supported to practice their faith. People were supported by staff who were kind, caring and respectful. Staff embodied the values of person-centred care, ensuring people were listened to and treated as individuals. There were enough suitably qualified staff deployed within the home. Managers at the service regularly engaged with people, relatives and staff to seek their feedback about the service and the make improvements where necessary. Staff told us they felt valued and supported by managers.
